If it's steel, it would put some weight out front and maybe help with muzzle climb. I'm not sure if it would be a good place to mount an optic though.

Hmmmm nahhhh. Easier to just cut the barrel down to the threads! Someone could make a short barrel run if you don’t want the protruding barrel, might be interesting... if you have no interest in a suppressor or compensator.
