What parts are needed to keep MK760s running?

I have owned a MK760 FA since 1998 and put almost no rounds through it since purchase. I am to the point in my life I need to use it. I have a can on the way, only to find out there are no threaded barrels currently available.

I have a good number of Swedish K and Port Said magazines so I am covered there. It looks like recoil springs are regularly available, everything else is sporadic.

I do have a good friend who runs a machine shop and I could likely make parts as needed. If others need parts, I might consider partnering with my friend to make production runs.

Since I have not run my gun hard enough to break or wear parts, can anyone advise on what to scrounge or make to get me through the next 20-30 years and have enough spares to keep it running for my kids?

Thanks,
Bama

Reach out to these THREE parties, ASAP:

22 conversions kits and optics mounts and who knows what else he’ll bring to the market. I’d keep your eye on his website and GET HIS 22 conversion kit, it’s awesome (see below):

Upgraded internals, suppressors and who knows what else (he sells trigger bar and sear sets that are amazing and removable too)

Threaded K barrels (instock at the moment) and K shrouds too:

I’m highly recommending SubGun24’s 22 conversion kit. His kits are literally a work of art, in form and function. I’m not sure if he’s going to make more either. These kits are cheap to shoot and are really easy on the transferable MG.
Link below if them in action (I’m running NavGunner’s internals too):

Get the parts listed above and you’ll be good to go. Maybe bring your MK to Hernando sportsman’s clubs next machine gun match. It’s not too far from Alabama and it’s a laid back time, we’re all just having fun there.

My advice:
  • Scrap the OEM recoil spring guide rod and replace it with NavGunner's superior part (add a buffer to help protect your end cap)
  • Replace the OEM recoil spring with a Wolff Spring
  • Buy a set of NavyGunner's trigger bar and sear and stash it away for when your trigger bar wears out
  • Get a couple of spare extractors and spring/pin sets.
Just doing those four things should add years of life (and $$$$$) to your MK760.

This hardback-color book covers the problem areas as well as variations, parts, magazines all the manufacturers (includes the semi-auto only models), history etc. And there is a chapter on the Swedish-K subguns.

And don't forget to get an extra barrel...otherwise KickStand has it right.

NavGunner is the man and buy whatever he has and when he does the bolts get one. If you ever sell, it adds to the value.

I think the bottom line is any part you can get your hands on. There are not many qualified machinists making parts for this platform and they seem to come and go quickly.

I'd also get on Navgunner's bolt list.
I've never regretted purchasing ammo or MG stuff. It always has increased in value.
As Vegas SMG (RIP Tom) used to say, 'these are the good old days.' Buy all you can afford to now.

Agreed, almost every part increases in value. The only exception I've experienced is mags. During the Clinton ban lots of mags sold for stupid money and I bought some in fear. Those prices came down precipitously and have never quite recovered. Some other mags fluctuate a bit, but most hard parts only increase over time. Whether they beat the rate of inflation is beside the point, most of the guns we're talking about have ceased production long ago and parts dry up. People like Austin come along rarely and we should not only support them but buy what we reasonable can affod while they are available. Besides, as with MG's, you never pay too much, you only buy too soon.
