I have come into $9000 (+ alittle) recently and I'm having a hard time deciding what to buy next. I'm searching threads on parts availability, gun reliability, ROF, LOP etc and still can't decide.

Just sold a FS UZI, bought a S&W 76 and a Stemple 76/45 so those suggestions are covered. Want 9mm or 45 acp ONLY. Not into modern platforms, I prefer older style SG's.

I am 6'5" with long arms and DO NOT like to be " bunched up " on the weapon ( thats why the UZI is gone ! ). The S&W, Stemple, Reising all fit me very well.

Here is what I like and seems within this dollar range and I DO NOT have to spend it all.

Beretta 38/42

Sterling

C&R STen MK II or MKIII

Reising M50 (and possibly a STenling also)

Medea M3a1

Thanks all.

For just a bit more money, you could get into an M16 and use it for a 9mm subgun platform.

I am 6'6" and find the full sized uzi very pleasant to hold and shoot and dread holding up a beast of a gun to fire like thompsons...lol. To each his own..

hell if you look around I bet you could find a RR m16 for 9K, post a cash in hand WTB add on SUBGUNS or Strum and I bet you get a hit overnight.

Hi guys......Sorry for any confusion. Its just those SGs mentioned. Those are the ones I like. I'm not really interested in any other SGs. I'm OLD and like OLD SCHOOL. Thanks.

Little Joe, the Sten is one of the easiest/simplest weapons ever made. If ANYTHING breaks you can fix it in your garage. Mags are cheap and the one I had a long time ago was one very reliable weapon.

The Sterling is one of the neater looking weapons though and the one at UT-6 and 5 (SubGunFan or Vegas????) was awsome.

The Sterling I shot Sunday Morning at UT6 rocked! Between the Sten and Sterling Id go with a Sterling hands down.

Anyone ever buy anything from autoweapons.com? They have a bunch of WW2 era guns some have the actual prices listed but most you would have to email for price I like the PPSH41 they have.

Autoweapons pricing

Hello 48 South,

I inquired about the three S&W 76s they had for sale and was quoted prices in the $7200 to $7800 (one w/suppressor) range about two months ago. Their weapons are in extra nice condition.

BUT, as an example there is a beautiful S&W 76 right now for sale at one of the internet sites for $5500.

Not alot of PPSH 41s out there though. Several, but not many.

Hi LittleJoe thanks for the response I have been looking at a few of the guns that autoweapons has for some time now however I havent ran across anyone that has dealt with them, so I wasnt really sure the quality of the firearms they have or if they are marked a little to high.

Joe:

Out of your list, I'd go with a Sterling without a second thought. Mags are WAY easier to load than Sten mags, and the Sterlings are pretty stout in their own right. I love mine.

I did two deals with autoweapons back in 2003(vector uzi,s&w76)both new in box. Both deals were very eazy,i was my first nfa buy.I used them because i was local and knew they would do all paper work for me.There prices are higher then most(i paid around $1500 more total for both but i knew that when i made the deal iwanted new and them to do the paper work)but their guns are usually in very very good condition.I have not heard anything bad over the years about them with transfers and such, but people do complain about there prices.I now look around for better prices and iam no longer worried about buying out of state and having it transfered to a in state dealer like i was back then.If you like their price you should have no problems dealing with them.

From your list... Sterling or Beretta; in that order. Parts kits and magas are still available for both guns.

Same with the STEns. They're fun, but I wouldn't place a premium on a C&R over a tube gun. The Sterling Mk4 is a vastly improved STEn. I love mine.

If you have any thoughts about a buying a Greaser, I'd seriously try to shoot one first. I like subguns with a slow ROF, but these are stupid slow. Cool looks and history, but I don't like the way they shoot. A Medea gun may be problematic.

Chili17's advise is sound. The "K" is a fantastic gun! Excellent and cheap mags to include 50 round coffin mags and of course the drums.

I'll echo Vegas and Chili,

From your list I'd go with the sterling and then the sten.

If you're willing to consider the Swedish K, I'd put that one step above the Sterling. That being said, I really LOVED Vegas' intergrally suppressed sterling.

In the old school department, I am a big fan of the Beretta 38/42. It doesn’t look like much but is a great gun to shoot and some cool history behind them. Size may be a problem for you though.
