On the bright side, it might bring m16 RR/LL/RDIAS prices down, or at least stagnant.

What number were you?

Looking at his previous posts, he said #13. I was curious because I’m #4 and have not received a call. I DID get the email, but no call. Email said 3-4 weeks and that was 2 weeks ago.

Getting excited, but I need to find someplace to shoot it....

What did you do with the proprietary barrel vise and wrench?

Product description says “Barrel mounting is AR compatible so different AR barrels and handguard mounts can be used, including the original AR delta ring and barrel nut“, yet in the confirmation email there is a question asking if you’d like any of the following items for your max11/15 including

• Barrel Vise - for removal or installation of barrel (proprietary part)
• Barrel Nut Wrench - for removal or installation of barrel (proprietary part).

So can standard armorer tools change barrels and these are just custom convenience options or do you need to buy these to change the barrel on a $3000 upper? And if so how much are they?

If you want to clamp on the receiver, you will need the receiver vice. If you allready have a barrel vice, you can use that to clamp on the barrel and then remove the barrel nut. Barrel nut requires a thin 32mm wrench. I just bought a kobalt wrench and thinned it up some

Clarification:

We are selling proprietary MAX-11/15 Receiver Vise Inserts. We mistakenly referred to these as Barrel Vise Inserts in the e-mail. These are plastic vise inserts to install in a vise so you can remove the barrel nut and change the barrel. They follow the contour of the MAX-11/15 upper receiver and allow a firm, non damaging grip of the upper receiver.

The barrel nut on the production run of MAX-11/15s is 30mm across the wrench flats. The Beta Units used a 32mm wrench flat. The wrench we will be selling is a 30mm crowfoot wrench that can be attached to a torque wrench to insure the barrel nut is tightened to the proper torque. Any 30mm wrench will do, but you need to torque the barrel nut when installing. A standard AR 15 armorers' wrench will not remove the barrel nut. If you just want to remove the barrel nut and install a different AR 15 barrel and barrel nut, an adjustable wrench will remove it. You might mar the barrel nut though.

If you plan on shooting the MAX-11/15 in the original configuration, and do not wear out the barrel, you will not need these tools.

The wrench is $20.00 and the Vise Inserts are $30.00 for the set (right and left sides).

Designing a upper receiver clam-shell vise for your proprietary upper is a big way of showing people you take user serviceability seriously, and I for one appreciate it.

If the original configuration barrel is shot out at some point, will a replacement service to install a new one be an option?

It doesn't look like it would, but does a Reaction Rod not fit?

Reaction rod inserts from the rear of an AR upper receiver. I don't know if that is possible here. The trunion might interfere, or the length of the upper receiver is way longer than a standard AR upper...
