Good morning folks,

Which countries are still actively manufacturing the old version of the Galil .308? I ask because Israel is not allowed to export weapons or parts to South Africa. :bang

Do you need parts, or the complete rifle?

Complete rifles can be found in Europe with some effort. Both full aut (if thats legal there), or original, 2 hole semi.

Usage and manufacturing are two different questions here.
For usage: Colombia (2nd line rifle, mostly police), Nepal, Mexico (limited), some African nations.

To my knowledge the old-version of the .308 Galil is no longer manufactured. The only Old style Galil still made is by INDUMIL of Colombia, and this is only the 5.56 SAR model.

If you need parts, you should either source some from Europe (Germany/Belgium/Switzerland are your best bets) or from the USA.

There are a lot of parts out there that people are sitting on.

Just got to find them and have cash ready to go; when found.

US to SA / SA to US parts exchange happens:)

What parts are you looking for?

I actually spoke with a fellow at Indumil a few hours ago. Took more "habla ingles?" transfers than I imagined. It would seem they have what I need in storage; he did point out that the factory isn't actively manufacturing them anymore, but I e-mailed him for a quote. I'm honestly a bit relieved as there isn't anyone else after this option.

That option of international exchange and camaraderie is one I will keep you to. :D

Essentially everything I would need to make a Galil in .308 except for those I can source locally. Barrels, receivers, bolts, trigger guards, bullet guides and magazines. Bolt carriers perhaps...but I think I might stick the Type 56's in there instead.

They are going to ask for end-user certificates and other paperwork, so be prepared.

Last time I spoke with them they told me they also only sell in bulk. Maybe things have changed, but if you are LEO/MIL you shouldn't have many problems.

I just traveled through central and south America. I only saw 5.56 galils.
