Why are old Mac cans occasionally going for $1k+?

Ruben just sold a MAC Powder Springs M10/45 can for $1,450

Rock Island Auction: RPB M10/45 can for $1,495

Then MAC Marietta GA can for $430 (not yet finished auction)

What’s the deal are people collecting these now? And what’s driving the difference in price? I wouldn’t have thought much for RPB, but it’s the highest. Then the two MAC cans are different in location.

No clue, I'm used to seeing them for next to nothing when you buy the host gun.

I just bought got one for a m11/9 with the gun. I just had to pay the transfer tax as it was on a form 4. Figured I'd have bowers rebuild it just for the hell of it.

Never underestimate the stupidity of online auction bidders.

You literally could not give me one. Not worth the transfer tax. A friend of mine had one so I know how they shoot.

I was in the same position of the host mac was same price with or without. I figured it was worth the stamp to have a MAC can but the dealer I got it from said that he does see them as having a 600-700 value to right person

They werent until last night

Ive been offered m10/45 ones on form 4 for $300 2-3 times. I laughed and turned it down. I had offered $200 both times and been told no

I bid and won the 380 can last night for $399 shipped on a form 3. But watched the 10/45 can go to $1300 in amazement

I wonder if it’s rich people going nuts?
I gotta think Ruben is happy today.

I believe they are $200 cans. $400 max

I like the look of the 2 stage can on a Mac 10–escape from my style

I think $1300 is insane. I’d like to hear from the bidders where they see the value in these. They are not hard to find

I guess if you got money and probably have a large mg collection is $1300 really that much if that’s what you want. I think we would need to see that as a sustained thread.

This is really odd. I'm no expert on the old Sionics cans but I await some input from those on this board who are.If I recall these were MAC cans, not RPB. Still, very odd.

I like the "old school" look of the original MAC cans. (with modern wipeless baffles). I do have one with a s/n that matches my PS M10, it has not been updated.
The downside to any used suppressor is the $200.00 transfer tax. As far as prices, I would pay a premium for one that matched the s/n of my gun, but certainly not $1400.00.
A lot of MAC suppressors were sold with serial numbers that matched the host guns, but no one wanted to pay an extra $200.00 for an old obsolete can, thus most matching suppressors were separated from their MACs.

I had a guy give me a MAC can a few years ago. He said if I would pay the xfer tax he would give me the can. He bought a MAC, but didn't want the suppressor that came with it. He told me that the can was still at his dealer, I explained to him that since I was also an SOT, it could transfer to me tax-free on a Form 3. So I offered to send him the $200.00, I did we were both happy.

I have a 2 stage RPB can that came with my PS that had a nomex foam cover torn but usable. I wanted the classic look.
Pulp Fiction, Vincent Vega gets a mag dumped into him (still shot only):

Not gonna lie.. always loved the look of the M10 w the two stage sionics can. When I decided to get one, I had to have one that was s/n to the gun.

I guess the real question is did the winning bidder on the GB auctions actually pay or did they become non-responsive after they sobered up? Rock Island gets some wild bidders as well. I think the true value is $100 to $300 but there will always be the exceptions.

$200 is where i put it....on a form 3 $400

i kept watching that $1300 45 auction keep going.....people kept bidding my 380 can up every 15 mins too...lasted 1-1.5 extra hours....just going up $10 at a time while the m10/45 one went up $150 at a time

im fine with my swd 380 one for $395 shipped...im getting the guts swapped out and plan to use it on 9mm and 380.....i bought it 100% for history/looks
