Why are old Mac cans occasionally going for $1k+?

Maybe C&R Soon?

I'd venture to guess that some of the cans are getting near 50 yo. Would that make them C&R for direct transfer across state lines?

Just thinkin,

I think that Ruben is blowing out a lot of his older technology cans on gunbroker right now

I've always been happy with my PS 45 can.
I have other cans to compare it with and it wasn't my 1st can purchase.

To each their own looks good on the gun and works as advertised.

I got mine for free with my 380. The dealer wouldn’t change the price with or without it. I dreaded paying the 200 stamp but I’m glad I did. It makes the gun easier to shoot and safer. I sent mine off to kgb armament and had Andy put SS baffles in it. He warranties for life and sends a tool to ease disassembly. It was a cheap can that looks correct for the Mac.

The silhouette of a 2 stage can on an Ingram is iconic. They might not be state of the art, works good enough for me.

I have a 2 stage RPB can that came with my PS that had a nomex foam cover torn but usable. I wanted the classic look.
Pulp Fiction, Vincent Vega gets a mag dumped into him (still shot only):

Hey, I never saw it from that angle. From the magazine it looks like a 9mm?

I think that Ruben is blowing out a lot of his older technology cans on gunbroker right now

Especially after he saw that $1300 sale. :)

ive talked with bowers and KGB and both said yes to 9mm after upgrade

KGB is $295 and includes a tool...he redoes the 1st stage as well.
Bowers is $250 and im not sure if the 1st stage is included or not(doesnt say)

ive been given advice that KGB is better, but no one can tell me why

both are good with answering emails....KGB is 3 weeks out....when mine comes in ill be shipping it off....sad you cant legally own the original parts without paying for a 2nd stamp as the parts = the suppressor....id like to keep the original parts if a future owner wants to bring it back to original SWD....ill never sell it, so i guess who cares....im expecting it to be as good or better than a new silencer when done as its so damn large....in modern cans larger=more quiet...so im assuming the same for this can after the redo

i like the monster 45 can!!....for $200-400...not for $14,500 :)

How does the Gemtech Viper sound compared to an original can with modern baffles? I like the look of the two stage cans, but that's as far as the nostalgia goes for me.

In my opinion, the reason the old technology, original MAC cans are bringing some money now is pretty simple. They are becoming collector's items. We all crave collectible accessories for our machine guns. Lord knows, I do. How many original accessories are there for MACs? What accessories are more directly used with the MAC than a can? The $200 tax is not as big of an issue as it was when they were originally sold. Nostalgia, too, as BuffDragon mentioned...

I rarely shoot my M11 .380 without its can, just for easier handling and safety purposes. Plus, there's a coolness factor, along with a factory marking and serial number. It's on page 126 of Frank's Mac Man book...

Either bowers or KGB are good choices. Both have warranties. KGB has the disassembly tool and SS baffles. You can’t go wrong with either.

The 1st stage on a M-10 can is filled with eyelets from tennis shoes like the converse all star shoes.
Depending on what can I've see all types in them from brass, metal, to aluminum eyelets seems Werbell used what ever the company sent him when he ordered them.
They are a real PITA to get back in once out.

there are some cut away pix here, possibly the MACMAN book or on the internet. that show these little eyelets and replacements can be bought at fabric stores to this day.

It's old tech that still works pretty darn good.

I would think packing "Chore Boy" scouring pads in there would be easier and work just as good if not better. A few bucks at any grocery store. The AWC MKII Ruger .22 integral design used these cut and rolled into long strings to pack their rear section and is quite effective.
