I'm interested in feedback on cutting down the Wolff Uzi magazine spring for 32 round magazines for the 25 round Uzi magazine.

The new Wolff Uzi magazine spring is approximately 17.5 coils.

How much do you cut for the Uzi 25 round magazine spring?

Note: The Wolff spring website states you can cut down their 32 round magazine spring for the 25-round magazine.

I've got an original IMI stamped 25 round magazine for my factory IMI Uzi SMG (which runs flawlessly), and it's got 16 coils. Most of my Star of David stamped 25 round magazines have 16 coils. Therefore, I'm thinking 16 coils; however, I'm interested in feedback from anyone who has used a Wolff 32 round magazine spring and cut it down for a 25-round magazine. Anyone have any experience doing so and the results? Thanks.

I have no experience in this exercise but would approach it spring safe. Start at 16 and if to stiff cut another until you find the utopia. Take wire cutters to the range and experiment, should be easy enough to do at the bench.

Did you ask Wolff if they have a recommendation?

I did as follows:

"It sounds like 16 coils may be correct for the 25 round magazines. Regardless of length of the spring, the coil count multiplied by the wire diameter will give you the solid height of the spring. The Uzi springs from us use 0.052 wire and approx 17.5 coils which would give a solid height of approx. 0.910 on the spring. So If the spring was 6 or 20 inches long given those to same parameters, the solid height remains constant.

The original Uzi springs are going to be metric wire the wire size is likely 1.25mm (roughly 0.049). If that is the actual wire size, the solid height with 16 coils would be 0.784 inches on the factory spring. So cutting ours to 16 is a good start and would give a solid height of 0.832. However if the last round does not load into the magazine you may need to trim ½ coil off. The spring should not actually go to solid when loaded, but will be very close. Even sometimes a few thousandths between the coils when loaded."
