Hi,
New to the forum and new to uzi's. I just bought a new transferable vector mini uzi and would like to know where I can get spare parts for it. Does anyone sell parts kits. Are there any parts more prone to breakage than others. Are any of the full size uzi parts inter-changeable with the mini uzi.
Thanks
Bryan

BUCK29, welcome to UZI Talk. Congrats on the purchase of the Vector Mini UZI.

Mini UZI parts kits are not plentiful and they are expensive. I think the last ones I saw were over $600. Fortunately some of the parts are interchangeable. The entire lower grip assembly is the same as the full size UZI so that gives you a cheap source for all the fire control parts and the grips. The front and rear sights on the Vector Mini are the same as a full size UZI SMG so those are cheap too. Anything else would be Mini UZI specific: barrel, top cover, stock, bolt, fore grips. Vector would have most any part you need, whether it's Mini UZI specific or not. D&D Sales also has a lot of parts. For anything that's the same as the full size, you can go with any of the parts suppliers like Tapco, DS Arms or Sarco.

Hey Buck29, congrats on your mini uzi.

I am in the same boat as you. I just recently went through Vector for my spare parts( extra top cover, barrel and bolt assembly). As RoverDave said, the entire lower is compatible with the full size uzi, as are the sights.

It's not a bad idea to get a spare parts kit for full size, then sell what you don't need, then buy mini uzi specific parts from Vector or D&D (top cover, bolt, barrel, foregrip, and stock.)

I asked Vector what they recommended for "high wear" replacement parts; they told me to get 1 each of the following:
1. extractor
2. sear
3. recoil spring assembly

By the way, the extractor and sear are the same as the full size.

I dont know where to get extra stocks; vector didnt have any the last time I called.

Hope this helps!

Well I have a question to add. Does the Mini smg use the same barrel as a Mini semi? Besides the lenght? Or is it the same deal as the full size with the semi a sloppy fit??

A semi Mini UZI barrel only has one trunion support band so it's not as well supported as a full auto barrel, however they seem to work fine. I know amphibian has used some cut down semi barrels in his full auto. I don't think it's a huge cost savings to buy a semi barrel instead of a full auto barrel so I'd go with the full auto barrel. Another nice thing about the full auto barrel is that it will have the compensator cuts in it.

There are pictures of the different Mini barrels in the library here.

I'd just add to what RoverDave said.
I am currently using a chopped semi barrel in my MINI and w/ no problems. The main reason I am doing this is because at the time, Gemtech told me not to use a compensated barrel for their 3 lug adapters because the way the adapters are threaded. The adapters Gemtech was using at the time was internally threaded almost to the end of the adapter. Using that adapter on a cut down compensated barrel would lead to a "freebore" condition as Dater of Gemtech told me.
Since the semi mini barrels don't have the rear trunion support I machined a sleeve to go over the barrel so I have full support.
I was told by Mark at Tros that they are now supplying their 3 lug adapters to Gemtech. If that is true then this is no longer an issue as Tros' adapters are threaded about 1/2 the length of the adapter so a chopped down compensated MINI barrel should be fine.

I had Tom Denall custom make me a suppressor for a Swedish K. I would need a longer unported barrel to use with it. His design uses the barrel to extend into the suppressor. It worked out great on the full size. I was going to give it a try on the Mini.
