Thanks everyone for your input. I'm getting one from Vector Arms. I'll post an update one I get it.
One the first page of this post. Vector arms reached out and gave me their contact information. You can email him and ask about them. @Vector ArmsAre these shipping from Vector?
I respect your opinion as always strobro32, but in my experience I have found that the Uzi converion is possibly one of the best out there. That is if you follow the recommendations for tuning.I love 22LR but unless you are into tinkering, leave 22 kits behind.
I'm a .22lr conversion junkie and I have never, ever had to do any tinkering with any of my kits to get them to run. I have kits for Uzi, 1928 Thompson, M16 (4 types), FN/FAL (2 types), AK47, Beretta 92, SIG 220, SIG 228, SIG 226 (2 types), Walther P38, HK MP5, HK 33, HK G3, and Browning 1917A1.I love 22LR but unless you are into tinkering, leave 22 kits behind.
That’s correct. I always do that with a new 22lr. Try a bunch of different ammo and see what runs. When did you get your vector kit? Is it a new one or old one?The biggest thing for me was finding ammo that my .22 kit likes. Buy a bunch of stuff and see what works.
In my Vector kit, I find the cheap Rem Thunderbolt does great.
Old kit. I bought the Uzi in 2006, so the .22 kit would have been ‘06 or ‘07 timeframe. That’s correct. I always do that with a new 22lr. Try a bunch of different ammo and see what runs. When did you get your vector kit? Is it a new one or old one?
Graphite lubricant in the mags seems to help keep mine running. That was my experience with 22 kits for my uzi and my M11/9. I never got either kit to shoot an entire mag without jamming. You have to keep the mags clean and use high velocity 22 ammo. Lage tuned the M11/9 kit -- it made no difference.
Best thing about them is they're easy to get rid of.
"Old" Vector stopped making their .22 conversion kit in the fall of 2007. I bought one of the last ones. It had feed issues, and when I checked, the chamber was very tight. I've always assumed that their tooling was getting worn. In any case, I already had a .22LR chamber finish reamer from another project, so I reamed out the Vector barrel and after I shimmed the extractor/firing pin block to the correct height for mag lip clearance and ground the top of the front lip of the extractor for extractor slot clearance, the kit has worked very well with a variety of ammo, standard velocity as well as high velocity.Old kit.
