Has anyone tried to use Zmags in a SWD finished Texas M10. It’s is a single feed that takes the Zytel shaped mags. Tried the mags from US MACHINEGUNS but the conversion quality is lacking ie mag stops are all placed differently. Just wondering. Any info would be great.

The zmag has an insertion stop made for the m11/9 and, despite what others tell you, the 11/9 and the m10/9 do not share the exact same magwell. The length is different. Zytels worked because they utilize two different insertion stop one for the m11/9(on the top of the magazine that hits the bottom of the upper) and a separate one for SWD finished m10/9 that hits the bottom Of the magwell

Correct they do not work.

I have a SWD Texas Mac which I haven't even had time to fire yet since I got it in June. But can you use a practical solutions upper with a single feed mag bolt? Or would you suggest getting the dual fred mag bolt instead and use those kind of mags? What other mags would you suggest to work with what kind of setup if zmags won't work? Being lage or practical solutions options? With the grip magwell of course. Obviously the max 10/31 using Suomi and zmags.

your single feed bolt should work fine in any m10/9 upper designed for a stock bolt(not lage uppers) provided that you still use the single feed magazines. If you want to go to a double feed bolt/magazines there are two options.

1. Uzi grip/bolt conversion that allows you to use uzi magazines

2. Buy a double feed bolt, weld in a feed ramp and use original( or modified suomi) magazines. See link below for feed ramp.

For single feed, I used modified PAM-2 and Madsen magazines.

I was about to post the same thing. You can cut a second catch on the bottom of the skirt on the PAM-2 mags for a dual-purpose mag. These worked great for me in both the M11/9 and M10/9. You may be able to cut a second catch in the Madsen mags and use in both guns. Or if you only have the M10, just set it up for that gun and you're set.

Madsen mags were always a little loose in my magwell, but they still ran fine.

So don't bother with z mags in original configuration on a SWD Texas Mac?

I wouldn’t. You would have to remove the original mag stop and weld on a new one. A little expensive compared to some m11/9 modified PAM-2nags I have seen for sale recently. If it were me, I would buy those and mod them for the m10/9 like Garrett posted

Another option is the steel inserts for the Zytels that Lage sells. I had good results with them.

What about standard dual feed mags with the lage Max10 upper? Don't bother?

To (reliably) run double feed mags, you need to weld in that feed ramp that I linked to.

If it’s an m10/9 it should have the feed ramp.

If it’s an m10/45 the magwell insert has that feed ramp.

You use Suomi concerted double feed mags, or walthers or walther copies that usmachine gun sells

On my Texas SWD Finished Mac 10/9, I just got a double feed bolt and used the RPK Repro Mags. Works great.

I'm having a sinking feeling my first outing with my new SWD Texas Mac won't be so exciting as I had hoped. Still trying to wrap my head around having the proper mags/uppers/bolts to actually have this thing work. LOL. Or not so LOL

Put up a Want To Buy ad on Uzitalk. I’m sure some M11/9 owner has a few PAM-2 mags laying around and has replaced them with zmags.

Jerry @ recon ord sells the pam2 mags converted already.
I didn't see them on his site but he has a ton of stuff not on his site.
He's more old skewl, call him and see if he has it type.

Set some time aside he likes to talk.
Jerry is a great guy.

Wait, you have an SWD tx Mac? Sf bolt. Duh on me.

Just get a few new zytel mags.

Or Jerry recon Pam 2 mags.

If you go Lage he will mill the df bolt to sf if you ask nicely. And maybe a small charge idk

You can still get sf mags so I wouldn’t convert to Df and then try to use walther or suomi mags. The zytel are $15

I don’t think you’ll ever see a cf-w bolt for m10 for 9mm. So don’t worry about grey ghost slow fire.
