I think I saw someone reference they turned a Lage Max 31 into a K model. I forgot where to ask for how and pictures. That is my biggest complaint is how long it is and I sure wish there was a K option for the 10/31. It is not as easy from the looks of how the upper is machined to shorten the thing like you could with the 11/15 type upper

Anyone done it?

nice on the max 10/31 i wonder how much forward travel is needed and how much can you take off and still fit the cant of the drum?

The drum is not canted on the Swedish K, Suomi or my modified Max31A Gen 1. Technically you just need to have enough material to hold the drum and for the drum release lever.

I modified a gen 1 Max31A. I have 2 bolts for it. A lightened Max-31 bolt used for the 6" barrel and a standard M11/9 bolt with a sear shelf cut like the Max-31 bolt for the 4.5" barrel.

I would be first in line if Richard made one like it that used Glock mags. ;)

I think that configuration would be a winner.

I should be getting my max 10/31 soon. When I get it I will see how much I can chop. It’s way too long for me as it is. As long as it will functionally work nonreason to leave it. Any effect on feel or other considerations I should have?

If you are going to compete with drums or like to use drums, keep it the forearm length long. The drums are much more comfortable and controllable with the extra forearm space.

If you want a "Chopper" cause it's cool, chop it up. Drums make it more awkward to hold the shorter forearm.

I wish Lage would see the interest and make at least one run of them.

And bad ass zmags. You’ll note on my thread I didn’t chop it until Zmags were available. That being said I have no problems using drums in it with a grip on the side rail.

What kind of performance are you getting from that M11/9 bolt? My shorty runs fine with the standard Max-31 bolt but I never run it without the suppressor.

With the 4.5" barrel + Max-31 bolt reliability suffers without the suppressor. I had to remove weight for unsuppressed fire. The Max-31 bolt now weighs a little more than an oz over the M11/9 bolt.
