How much were they at Centerfire when they had them in stock? I'm assuming they are the ones with the four brass rods in a 32 round body.

Like $4 each. Yes, they had the rods which needed to be removed.

I've cleaned up a lot of surplus box mags and one thing I can recommend is the E&L Manufacturing square receiver brush and knurled rod:

The knurled rod is a perfect size and strong. Attach the square brush to it and use whatever cleaner you want and it will make short work of cleaning out the inside of surplus mags.

Thanks. That's a great idea, but since I really thrifty I think I'll get a bottle brush at the $1 store and trim the bristles to fit the mag body.

The BR Powder Blast is out of stock at Midway, but it is in stock on amazon with free shipping for about $15

If I spent the money, I prefer non-chlorinated brake cleaner to Powder Blast. It's cheaper and leaves less residue.
