I have a full size Uzi receiver i plan on chopping down and converting to a mini uzi. It is a closed bolt semi auto pistol. Will most likely use a mini repair section to do it. As bolts are either expensive or hard to find, I am going to try my hand at making one. That is where I will start this thread. Whether all of my great plans come to fruition or not im not to worried about. I just like messing around with this stuff in my spare time. I will be trying to go on the cheap as much as possible. Will see how that works out for me as well.
For the bolt: I modeled it in fusion 360 (very much thanks to Jones for supplying me with the unique dimensions to the mini bolt). I printed the first plastic bolt on my 3d printer to check fitment and clearances. Other than all of my holes being a little small i am very happy with it.
I plan to print it in a plastic that is designed for lost plastic casting. Then cast it and have a steel bolt. My "machine shop" is severely limited (I have a mini lathe and a drill press), but I think that I can manage to produce something functional.
Attached are photos of the plastic bolt in my full size Uzi. It is also shown in comparison with the full size bolt.
