Crazy!
I’ve got a NIB Powder Springs can that I paid $500 for it, a year ago. The box’s serial number matches the can too. I was hesitant about the price but looking back, it was a great investment.
Honestly, gunbroker is crazy.
That’s really what it is. Gunbroker
is crazy, that said, as a GB seller, I try to use that to my advantage. The majority of these items can still be found for “good ole days” prices if you do a little digging away from gunbroker (or catch a good buy it now on GB from time to time). Gunbroker enables me to flip parts and accessories, all the while cherry picking for my collection.
The way people bash gunbroker and GB sellers you would think someone was holding a gun to their head and forcing them to bid. Nobody is making anyone buy their stuff on gunbroker… people choose to pay the insane prices because they are impatient and want instant gratification. They don’t wanna have to post WTB ads on forums and wait around for a half a year till someone responds for a good deal. They would rather spend 20 times what it’s worth and get it immediately… and god forbid someone tries to get in the way and outbid them… they will spend 50 times what it’s worth just to prove they have the bankroll to win the auction. I love gunbroker ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Now are there some bad apple sellers that take advantage of this and do things like shill bidding? Yes, there’s a lot of them… but it’s usually pretty easy to pick up on in the bid history/feedback and avoid the obvious culprits who are constantly relisting the same crap even though it has “sold” 4 times in the last couple months and always getting insanely high prices on .99 auctions
with no reserve.
