Kit seizures

If you hear anything new and exciting about the actions of BATFE with regards to FAL kits, please post it here. I'd prefer that this does not become a thread about "what you'll do" if they show up at your house. Let's stick to the facts and help each other out.

Thanks.

Interesting post on the cause of the Kit seizures

If true this really sucks.

POSTED BY DAN from DAN's Sporting Goods aka falparts.com

As most of you who really knows us, we are a very small company and we learned rather then compete with much larger players to just find a niche, work hard at it and don't bother with what someone else is doing.

Also as most know here that at the present there is quite a controversy on FAL parts kits (which affects us all). Being directly involved in this "controversy" for business and legal reasons we cannot comment on much of what's going on. As you can also imagine this is a tremendous waste of time and a considerable cost to us. There is a fact that we recently uncovered that we can share with you. It gives a little insight of the industry we are in. Many of us are quick to blame the government for what's going on. What we found here shows us how an enity with lawyers, politicians, ex-government employees can use the "powers to be " to do their bidding.

There were four importers of the Imbel FAL parts from Chile. One of them was Century International Arms and true to their nature and tactics, if they can't control and have it all, they are going to make sure nobody else can have any.
If you can recall about a year ago, Century and their distributors sold their Imbel FALs as fast as they could.
Then on or about August 2002 Scott Corigan, Import Manager of Century caused a employee to order an Imbel FAL parts kits from Dan's Sporting Goods. Corrigan stated (to ATF agents) that his reason for having the purchase made was to determine whether Century Arms would be interested in making a bulk purchase order from Dan's since, according to Corrigan, Century was beginning to run short on FN FAL parts. [note: hogwash as Scott could have just called here if he wanted to.]

Corrigan told agents that he conducted an inspection of the Imbel FAL parts kit when it arrived from Dan's. Corrigan stated that he immediately recognized that the parts kit was a "machinegun" because in his opinion the firearm had not been properly deactivated.

Corrigan added because of his suspicion that the parts kit obtained from Dan's was actually a "machinegun", he forwarded the parts kit to ATF's Firearms Technology Branch.

.....and the story goes on........
So the next time before you order any FAL parts from Century or their distributors you may want to give a little consideration for how much they really care about this sport.

Have a happy 4th and enjoy your INDEPENDENCE while you can.

Just a quick FYI guys. Here is the latest on Dan Tobin's Saga with BATFE and Century. If this info rings true, Century has really "hosed" us all. :(
