I recently acquired a Powder Springs 9mm suppressor that was originally sold to Atlanta Police. Given the provenance, I'm sort of interested to know its birth date by serial number - I'm curious if it was possibly an early unit - Atlanta being local to PS made them a reasonable partner to test and evaluate and it likley helped sales to say a major city PD had them.

The serial number is S22002745 It is marked only as Powder Springs and MAC corp and its 9mm cal.

Is their a code like the guns for suppressor date of Mfr?
I have an early 9mm PS upper so this will be its play mate.

I have a number matching MAC and suppressor. The suppressor is numbered S 1-3001931. My understanding of the serial numbers is that it places their manufacture sometime in 1973.

I cracked open my copy of "The MAC Man" book and some information was on Page 128.

The first Production Run Serial number 9mm suppressor was S2-2000021 on January 8 1971 and that production run went through SN S2-2003406 Oct 1971

Another production run resumed on November 30, 1971 with Serial Number S2-000910-A with no end date of this run given but end of this run with serial number S2-2000955-A but it must have ended before 1973.

On April 4, 1973 another run started with SN S2-40003407 and ran through S2-4003646 no end date listed.

My suppressor appears to be made some time in mid-1971 by the serial number.

Wow Frank has some great information in that book.
