With everything else being equal, is there a noticeable difference of rate of fire between M193 5.56x45 and M855 5.56x45 (green tip) when being fired out of an M16 or any full auto AR type of weapon?

My thought is the M193 has a lighter projectile and faster velocity, so it would be a little faster ROF than the heavier and a little slower M855 round.

I believe M855 cycles faster since it is a hotter round than M193.
I typically use LC M855 for almost all of my RoF testing. I may have run M193 only a few times for testing. I can try to test M193 the next time I go out if you want a definitive answer.
Either way I doubt the rate difference is even that noticeable. I am guessing it will be less than 100RPM difference between the two.

I would appreciate that, if it's not too much trouble! Thank you.

KynSHOT RB5000HP hydraulic buffer; SpringCo Red AR carbine length recoil spring in standard carbine buffer tube; 16 in. 5.56x45 barrel with carbine length gas tube.
M16 Ammo ROF Comparison:
• AE 5.56x45, 55 gr. (M193): 810;
• Win 5.56x45, 62 gr. (M855): 832;
• Rem. .223Rem, 55 gr. PSP: 730; and
• Win. .223Rem, 45 gr. HP: 757

MHO, YMMV, etc. Be well.

Thank you very much! Great data. Wish I had a transferable to test it out for myself. Should only be a few more years before I can :)

Thank you, amphibian! You and SecondAmend's data confirm M855 to be the faster of the two from a rate of fire standpoint.

I love the scientific method. :D

I have numerous Colt SBRs and several different uppers for them (all major types, including a few MK18s) so it will be fun once I get a transferable lower to swap them out for comparison. I plan to primarily run my early 14.5" A2 M4 upper on it since that kit doesn't have a dedicated SBR lower in my collection.

While I can't give you specific numbers, I've fired both through Uncle Sam's guns, and I honestly couldn't tell any difference in ROF
