What is this "MAC 11/12 Mount"

I have had this for 3 years and still have no clue what it does.

I asked them and here is their answer:

All I can tell is that is goes on the front. The shape is all wrong for a grip. No clue on the three slots.

Yeah the large pin looks like it would fit an MG3-AA tripod. I don't really see how it fits a Mac. Does it fit yours in any way?

haven't tried to mount it to one of mine cause I don't know where it goes
