What optics do you run on your uzi?

Thank you. I was planning on running the micro but wasn't sure what mount I needed. Now I know. Thanks!!!

You are very welcome.

I don't know how handy you are, but be careful when you drill the topcover for the mount. The steel was a harder grade than I was expecting

I used a prick punch and very small bit to drill a pilot hole.

If you don't have a bench-top drill press, this is a good excuse to get one.

Amphibian,

Do you make an optics mount mini uzi cover like in the video?
Yes, but due to the rarity of Mini and Micro topcovers, I used to do a swap out program where I would have factory IMI topcovers that I modified and had ready to go. I haven't done that in a long time and have since sold my last Micro topcover but I still have some factory IMI open bolt Mini topcovers that I haven't done yet and kind of on the fence on doing them as they are absolutely brand new and I don't want to do the swap program and someone sends me some a used one that I then need to swap. If I can get some used Mini open bolt topcovers I may do it again.

For closed bolt Mini UZI (semi or full auto) topcovers, I have been buying the new US made topcovers off Gunbroker and modifying them. Here is a recent listing: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1013952706

I have one left that is complete right now that is identical to the one in the ad that I just having got around to re-listing yet.

I'd rather not discuss that here and get off topic. Maybe in another thread. Back to discussing Uzi optic options, I've never liked the picatinny rail setups on Uzi's as I like 100% cowitness. However, I have thought about TIG welding steel picatinny rails for people that want that instead of a bolted on setup....not sure how much demand for that though.

Primary Arms 2.5x scope on a semi carbine. I like being able to hit the 200yd. Half silhouette gong on a regular basis.

Heh, you just gave me flashbacks of when I was trying this. I was attempting to mount a rail on a semi-cover on the cheap and went through several drill bits barely making a dent in that thing. I finally had to purchase a drill press and cobalt bit and that finally did the trick, though the end result was kind of ugly. It all kind of defeated the "on the cheap" purpose but by that point I was committed. I don't know what kind of steel they use on that topcover but I'm sure the army would appreciate having some. My rail extended a bit too far forward so I ended up relieving some material from the bottom to clear the charging knob slide so it would go all the way back.

Back on topic, I did mount a cheap small red-dot on it for a while, though it wasn't low enough to co-witness. I never really got used to it and just went back to iron sights. I have considered mounting a better optic now that I can afford it and may do just that if I manage to find it (recently moved and everything is still not organized).

I only recently learned of Richard's (BWE) passing so I'm glad to see at least Amphibian is still at it. I remember when Amphibian first invented this topcover configuration. I think he was the first person to ever even try such a thing. Back then he was making them for the Doctor Optics as I recall. I got a chance to try out one of his guns once and it was a sweet setup.

I second having an Aimpoint micro mounted on a StormWorkz rail. They I love mine setup that way as it shoots great and I don’t have to change a thing when shooting it.

Here’s my IMI pre sample setup. Only thing not on it is my Gemtech Multi-Mount suppressor as I’m still trying to find my mount. It went into hiding when I was moving this summer.

I actually started out on the Tasco Optima since that was the first mini red dot I had ever seen and I think the first one available in the US. The Tasco Optima was made somewhere in the UK and used all plastic including the lens. The JP JPoint was / is made from the same source and still available today and looks like the original Optima but I'm sure it has some improvements since then.

The Docter was like $400 but no plastic, all aluminum and glass and German origin and I switched to those due to the much nicer glass clarity. Those are kind of hard to get these days and now it is the Burris FF with the same footprint and few others.

I personally switched over to the Holosun mini red dots with the Eotech style circle dot reticle that use the RMR footprint. Like the HS507C X2

There are also action arms clamp on mounts. This is one for a scope that I took the rings off of and then mounted a piece of picatinny rail. I was skeptical as to whether it was going to move given how violent a Micro is, but it has stayed put! It sits a bit high but thats fine. Last time I shot it with irons I had a bruised cheek when finished.Screen Shot 2023-11-07 at 6.27.52 AM.png

Very nice set up and beautiful gun too! I would love to find one of those K grips. Maybe someday one will pop up.
