Recoil spring test
I got some recoil springs and buffers from Sureshot . I did some rpm testing in my MK-760 while out camping. All of my data was done at 9000 ft. elevation and 60 deg. I used Winchester 115 gr. White Box and std. 8" barrel. I used the buffer with all springs.
Mk factory 20# spring = 932 rpm
Sureshot 16.5# music wire= 764 rpm
MK factory 13# stainless = 779 rpm
(Yes, a factory Mk spring I ordered with the gun in 1988)
Sureshot 14.5# stainless = 765 rpm
I had a little Fiocchi 115gr. with me, so I tried it also.
Sureshot 14.5# stainless = 722 rpm
Typically, 99.9% of my shooting is with 147gr. subsonic hand loads and a
5" barrel with Form 1 homemade suppressor. (Colorado yuppies don't like noise) The Sureshot springs and Mk stainless spring at the lower rpm rate makes the gun super controllable and the buffer smoothes everything out.
I don't have any more factory ammo, but I may try some testing with hand loads this winter, hopefully at a lower elevation, which may or may not effect rpm.
