Sten MKV vs others

Hi everyone,

I hope all is going well considering events. Wanted to see what folks thought of the sten MKV. I’ve shot a sten - and it was pretty fun. Half the beauty is just how simple it is. That said, I walked away thinking the MKV (I shot a MKII) would be much more enjoyable. Just a little bit more accurate.

What do folks think of the MKV? One thing that would worry me is if the firearm is harder to find parts for and if it would be unable to “convert” to a MKII setup. It seems like the vertical grip cannot be swapped out like the stock can. Worries me that you are married to some tough to find parts.

Anybody have insights / opinions? Thanks!

I would rather have any other 9mm subgun instead of any sten

I have shot the MK2 a number of times.
I have 2 bolts for it, the liteweight bolt does make the MKII run faster.
The Mark 5 STEN also runs faster due to its design.
The Mark 5 certainly handles better, and has a better sight radius.
Parts? APEX has a lot of STEN kits in stock and we do restock STEN parts from kits every so often.

Shot my buddies Sten MKV a number of times. It is the Cadillac of Stens. Can't go wrong.

OTOH, I really enjoy shooting my factory Sten MkII, especially with the SCRC MK25 integral suppressor.

The MKV is more ergonomic, much better (front) sights, pistol grip.
The MKII is crude, but has that classic "resistance fighter" look.

MKII is indeed classic. I have a DLO MKII with a DLO integral suppressor. MKV is better to handle, but looks uglier in my eyes. As a kid I played CoD WWII video games and the MKII was in it!

It’s still a STEn. Kinda like getting a deluxe Ford Focus by using the JC Whitney catalog.

Mk2 is a classic gun, truly form following function, born out of desperation.

IMO Mk5 is lipstick on a pig.
Wooden stock, pistol grip, SMLE front sight, mounted onto a Mk2.
