Curtis Tactical MK9K -> CT9KS re-core service

Just got an MK9K back from Curtis tactical that underwent their recore service. Cost is $475 if they re-use your MK9K endcaps.

Looks really nice.

I'm using the suggested metal shim trick to keep things cleaner.
In addition, I had a free bottle of FireClean I was given a couple years ago that I figured I would give a try...
The goal is to just be able to throw the internals into my ultrasonic for cleaning...

I like the short look

Thanks to amphibian for getting Curtis Tactical into improving the MK9K!!!

Looks great! Let me know what you think of the performance.
I also setup a webpage I can point people to regarding this can so I don't have to re-type a bunch of the technical details:

http://www.c3junkie.com/?page_id=244

Was just looking @ your page on the shim stock.

Great Idea wonder if my 30 cal F1 can would benefit from a wrap of shim?

Took it apart yesterday out in the field to show a friends son what the guts looked like and it was a bit hard to get out due to carbon build up and a bit harder to get back together.

1st time taking it apart and not cleaning it 1st before re-assembly and will be the last it was that hard to get back together due to crud.

Clean everything slides in and out as it should never even gave it a 2nd thought until it didn't want to slide back together.

It's 100% SS so cleaning is easy but the baffles are exposed to the tube like most ( not all ) cans.

Thanks for the Link to your page amphibian.

It would be a benefit for a pistol cal can especially when a friend shoots his 9mm loaded with unique powder. That did happen to me with my MK9K can on my mini Uzi. The outer tube was coated in thick carbon chunks from the unique powder. LOL

Does your F1 can have a gap between the baffles and tube like the MK9K / MK9 / CT9K-S family does? If so, should work fine.

Very little room just enough to clear the threads on the end caps.

I'll have to get out the feeler gauges and see what the gap is.

Kramer still cry'n about free ammo ! Hey when there is no bullseye on the shelf I'll stuff unique in the case.

It would seem R15 in the 223/556 is just as dirty after the last outing as the unique is in 9mm.
SO NONE FOR YOU! Kramer since your rifle cans are sealed.

That was not free ammo for me, that was you shooting your ammo and leaving the charcoal.

Crazy price

MK9K is a great can, But the internals are junk

CT9KS blows it away
I’m not a huge fan of the Bixler mount
I like the push-style quick disconnect

I'm kinda mad at Joe because I emailed him 2X to get cuts on my CT9KS and he never responded.

He's always been pretty responsive in my experience. I dropped him a note that you've been trying to reach him.

Yeah, that is nuts for an MK9K. Are you having any issues with the Bixler mount or you just don't like it because it is slower to install/remove?

Strobro32, I am really glad Amphibian let me know about this, I hate anyone thinking I don't get back with them. Customer service is always a priority to me. I tried to answer both your emails but it comes back as undeliverable and I don't have a phone number for you. Please email me your number and I will give you a call. Joe
